Overview

Velocity is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension runs entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.

What We Don't Collect

  • Personal information (name, email, etc.)
  • Browsing history or web activity
  • Video watching habits
  • IP addresses or location data
  • Any analytics or tracking data

Local Storage Only

Velocity uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API to save your preferences (like speed settings and achievements) directly on your device. This data never leaves your browser.

Data stored locally includes:

  • Your preferred playback speed
  • Per-channel speed memory
  • Usage statistics (time saved, sessions)
  • Unlocked achievements
  • Video notes you create

Permissions Explained

storage: Required to save your settings and statistics locally.

notifications: Used to show achievement unlock notifications.

Host permissions (YouTube, Netflix, etc.): Required to inject the speed controller UI into video pages.

Third-Party Services

Velocity does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to anyone.

Open Source

Velocity's source code is available for review. You can verify our privacy practices yourself.
